Abraham Lincoln (February 12, 1809 – April 15, 1865) was an American lawyer and politician who served as the 16th President of the United States from 1861 until his assassination in 1865. Lincoln led the nation through the American Civil War and was successful in patronage.

Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809, in a place called Kentucky, America, to a poor farmer. Thomas Lincoln was the father and Nancy Lincoln was the mother of Abraham Lincoln. Abraham Lincoln mother died when he was only 9 years old, after which his father remarried. Perhaps this was the reason that Lincoln gradually moved away from his father. His parents were not very educated, so Abraham Lincoln’s early education could not be done properly, but by overcoming the difficulties, he not only earned a good education but also managed to get a degree in law, but due to his humanistic approach, because he failed in the business of advocacy. After that he started his political career as a member of the Republican Party.
Struggles of Abraham Lincoln
Abraham Lincoln’s life was full of difficulties. He had to deal with only failure for most of his life. After failing in business at the age of 22, Abraham Lincoln lost the legislature election, entering politics at the age of 23. When he was 24 years old, he again faced failure in business. Abraham Lincoln’s wife Mary Todd Lincoln died at the age of 26.
At the age of 27, he suffered a nervous breakdown. Abraham Lincoln lost the speaker’s election at the age of 29. At the age of 31, he lost the election of the electorate. At the age of 39, he faced his defeat in the US Congressional election. At the age of 46, he lost the election to the Senate. At the age of 47, he lost the election of the Vice President. At the age of 50, he also had to face defeat in the Senate election for the second time. It would not be an exaggeration to say that he had crossed the pinnacle of failure. Even after so many failures, there will be someone who can think of becoming a candidate for the most prestigious office like President.

Abraham Lincoln achieved some unprecedented success, defeating even the states, when he won the presidential election in 1861 at the age of 51 and was elected 16 presidents of the United States, proving only that he was the most suitable candidate for the position. But he also set a unique and inspiring example for those who are afraid of failures.
When Abraham Lincoln became president, America was facing the problem of slavery. The white men were the masters of large farms in the southern states and they called black people from Africa to work in their fields and were kept as slaves there. The people of the northern states were against this practice of slavery and they wanted to end it. Eventually a civil war broke out between the northern and southern states. Lincoln declared that a nation cannot live half slave and half without slave. So the northern states won. Leaving the country out of the Civil War was Lincoln’s biggest achievement. Lincoln is credited with ending slavery by the 13th Amendment to the US Constitution in 1865.
Abraham Lincoln was not only a good politician but also a strong orator. Giving the definition of democracy, he said- “Democracy is the rule of the people, by the people, for the people.” Despite being in the presidency, he not only remained humble but also tried for the betterment of the poor as much as possible. During the abolition of slavery, he had to face a lot of opposition, but realizing his duty, he finally succeeded in carrying out this work. The international importance of the end of slavery in America is also because only after this paved the way for the abolition of slavery in the world. After the end of this evil practice in his own country, his role in ending it in other countries of the world was remarkable.
The personality of Abraham Lincoln was a source of inspiration for humans. He loved all humanity. He was far away from the narrow feeling of enemy friend. An interesting incident related to this is presented here. One day during the civil war, he went to the camp of his soldiers in the evening. Asked everyone’s well being there and spent a lot of time with the soldiers and encouraged them by talking to the injured soldiers. When he came out of the camp, after talking to the people with him, he reached the camp of the enemy army.
All the soldiers and officers there were surprised to find Lincoln in their midst.. Although all of them found this very strange, yet they were filled with soulful reverence for Lincoln. When Lincoln came out of the camp, everyone stood up in his honor. Lincoln greeted them all and started getting into his car. Then an old lady standing there said – You meet your enemies with so much love, while you should have the feeling of destroying them. Then the taker smiled and replied – I can do this by making him my friend in the work. This inspiring episode shows that Lincoln believed that friendship could put an end to even the greatest of enmity. He also believed in adopting a liberal attitude towards his enemies.
Abraham Lincoln Death
According to a survey, Lincoln is at the top position in terms of popularity among all the presidents of America so far. On April 14, 1865, he was shot and killed by an actor named John Bilkis while watching the play ‘Our American Cousin’ at the Ford Theatre. After his assassination, it was said in a gathering of scholars in America – Lincoln may have been assassinated, but the important work he has done for the betterment of humanity, the abolition of slavery can never be forgotten. Lincoln will always be with us because of his thoughts and good deeds. His personality had a unique effect that former US President Barack Hussein Obama, realizing the contribution of Abraham Lincoln, went to the same place from where Lincoln started his political career before being sworn in for his presidency.
