Badminton Championship Between Year 2013-2021

 In Asian Championship, 2013, Sindhu reached at quarter final. She won Malaysian title in the same year beating Singapore in Grand Prix Gold title. P.V. Sindhu participated in the 2013 World Championships and became India’s only second medalist in the singles event at the Badminton World Championships since Bronze medal secured by Prakash Padukone back in 1983.

P.V. Sindhu lost in the semi-final to ultimate champion Ratchanok Intanon. P.V. Sindhu was the captain of the team Awadhe Warriors in 2013 Indian Badminton League, where her team qualified for the semi-final. P.V. Sindhu won Macau Open Grand Prix Gold title on 1st December 2013.

P.V. Sindhu reached the final of 2014 India Open Grand Prix Gold. She got her first medal at the 2014 Asian Championships in quarterfinal. She reached at the semi-final of 2014 Commonwealth Games in the women’s singles competition, and claimed bronze medal. She participated in 2014 World Championships, Denmark. P.V. Sindhu created history by becoming the first Indian to win two back-to-back medals in the BWF World Badminton Championships.

At the 2015 World Championships, P.V. Sindhu again reached at quarter final. In November 2015, she won her third successive women’s singles title at the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold. She suffered a fracture in 2015, yet managed to qualify for the Rio Olympics, 2016.

In January 2016, Sindhu won the Malaysia Masters Grand Prix Gold women’s singles title. In the 2016 Premier Badminton League, P.V. Sindhu was the captain of Chennai Smashers team. At the women’s singles event, at 2016 Rio Olympics, P.V. Sindhu managed to get silver medal. It jotted down her name in history.

Sindhu clinched title at the 2016 Thaihot China and became only Indian player to do so after Saina Nehwal. With her consistent performances, she qualified for Super series Finals.

P.V. Sindhu won Syed Modi International, 2017 of Indonesia. In the India Open Superseries, she won the title in straight games. In April 2017, P.V. Sindhu achieved a career-high world ranking of number 2.

In the 2017 World Championships held in Scotland, she played for 110 minutes and attained 2nd longest Women’s Singles match in History of Badminton. She become the first Indian to win Korea Open. In August, she started working as Deputy Collector under the Revenue Department of the Government of Andhra Pradesh.

At the All England Open Championships, she performed her best at the 2018 All England Open. She competed at the Commonwealth Games, 2018; won a Gold in the mixed team and silver in the singles event.

P.V. Sindhu secured 3rd place in the 2018 BWF World Championships. She won her 2nd consecutive silver medal, that was her fourth medal at the World. Sindhu scored 3rd place in the Asian Games 2018.

She created the history by securing first silver medal for India in badminton, Women’s singles. She qualified for the BWF World Tour Finals in 2018. She reached at the final in the 2019 Indian National Badminton Championships.

At the 2019, World Championships, she gained 5 th position. In the World Championship final, she became the first Indian to win gold medal. On 8th March 2020, she was named the BBC Indian Sportswoman of Year.

In April, P.V. Sindhu got elected as exclusive ambassador of BWF Committee’s campaign to promote fair play in the sport. In 2021, Sindhu was elected as one of the two ambassadors in the campaign “Believe in Sport” of International Olympic Committee from badminton.
