Essay on Swami Vivekananda Inspiration For Youth: Swami Vivekananda Born on 12th January 1863 in Calcutta, Swami Vivekananda was named as NarendranathDatta by his parents. He was an Indian Hindu monk and is credited for introducing the Indian philosophies of Yoga and Vedanta to the western world. His father name was VishwanathDatta, he was an attorney in High Court, Calcutta and mother, Bhubneshwari Devi was a housewife. Because of the rationality of his father and devotion of his mother, his thoughts were shaped. He was interested in spirituality since very young age and was a very keen and avid since childhood. He was known for his prodigious memory and high reading speed since very young age.

Early Life, Education and Travel:

He completed the Bachelor’s of Arts in 1884 from Christian College, Calcutta, he studied the works and ideaology of several intellectuals like Charles Darwin and worked in transaction of books into Bengali. He not only studied Bengali Literature and Sanskrit Scriptures, but Western philosophers. He met Keshab Chandra Sen in 1880 and joined his Nava Vidhan. He became member of SadharanBrahmoSamaj,Freemasonry and Band of Hope and worked for society. He was in search of God and asked several promisory people the same question, but got unsatisfactory response. But, DevendraNath Tagore, the founder of BrahmoSamaj asked him to see the god with his yogi eyes. It marked a turning point in his view point, which was carved by Ramkrishna in the layer stage.

After completing his graduation, he joined for spiritual apprenticeship and later met Ramkrishna, who became his spiritual guru afterwards. He initially opposes his idea of absolute identity of God as a member of BrahmoSamaj, but the personality of Ramkrishna impresses him, because of which he started to visit Dhakshineswar frequently. He was asked by Ramkrishna to see the world with multiple perspective. UnderRamkrishna’s guidance, he later on experienced solace in spirituality and become leader of monastic disciples of Ramkrishna, after his demise. He established house at Baranagar as new math because old math was lost due to financial issues. He travelled for 5 years as a monk in different parts of India to attain knowledge of diverse religions and societal pattern.

NarendranathDattawas named as “Vivekananda” by AjitSingh of Khetriin the year 1893, which means “the bliss of discerning wisdom”. He visited to the West countries to conquer more knowledge and spread Indian  religion and beliefs to the world. He went to Chicago first and delivered a two minutes speech at Art Institute of Chicago, for which two minutes standing ovation from the crowd of around 7 thousand. He then went to several parts of the US and UK and delivered his speech as a guest. He founded Vedanta Society of New York in 1895, and declined several academic offers to teach in universities because he didn’t want his duties to be an obstacle in his commitments as a monk. He followed life of a bramacharya and lived life of a bikshuk for several years in order to attain knowledge and religious beliefs. He got several disciples and followers in India as well in west.

Teaching and Beliefs

In 1897, he founded Ramkrishna Mission in Calcutta for Social service. He founded Ramkrishna math and other monasteries too. He composed several songs, wrote journals, teach yoga, meditation, took part in freedom struggle, and a very good painter. He delivered several speech focusing on Bhagwat Gita, Ved, Yoga and Spiritual oneness. He was considered as one of the best artist, speaker, listener, meditator and guru. His lectures and speech were later on compiled as books.

He propagated the idea of faith and suggested his disciples to be unselfish, pure and have faith; and linked morality with control of nature and mind. He believed that country’s future depends on its citizens and his teachings emphasized on human development. He sternly believed that success can be achieved only by focusing on your idea and doing everything to achieve it, leaving the hindrances. He firmly believed that living for own idea and working on it can lead to success and spirituality.

While he was busy in propagating his idea and service among human kind, his health got deteriorated and on 4th July 1902, he died at 9.20 p.m. while meditating. As per reports, the blood vessels of his brain got raptured. His disciples believed that he attained Mahasamadhi and rapture was due to brahmarandhra piercing during mahasamadhi. He was cremated on the banks of Ganga in Belur, in the opposite of his guru, Ramkrishna.
