My Favorite Festival Holi Essay for Students, Kids 500 Words: Our country India is a land of festivals. Every festival is celebrated here with great enthusiasm and pomp. Unity in diversity is the identity of India. People of almost all religions and sects reside in India. In every religion, some festival is celebrated at some point or the other, so in India, every month of the year, there is definitely a celebration of some or the festival. The festival of Holi is also one of these.

The festival of colors of Holi which is celebrated in the month of Falgun. On the day of Holi, we wish our dear ones by applying colors to them. Holi is celebrated in many ways in different states of India, in which Mathura Vrindavan, Barsana, Uttar Pradesh’s Lathmar Holi is very special. On the day of Holi, all people apply color to each other and forget all the old grievances and embrace each other.

Mythological Belief

In ancient times there was a tyrannical demon named Hiranyakashipu. Hiranyakashipu did penance to Brahma and asked for a boon from him that no creature of the world, animal, god or human could kill him, neither die in the night nor die in the day, neither on earth nor in the sky, neither in the house nor in the house. die outside, nor with a weapon. Having received such a boon, Hiranyakashipu started considering himself as a god. Hiranyakashipu wanted everyone to worship him only. Before his atrocities, the whole public was troubled.

His son was born to Hiranyakashipu, whose name was Prahlad. Prahlad was a Vishnu devotee. Prahlad used to chant the name Vishnu all the time. Hiranyakashipu did not like this behavior of Prahlad, so he planned to kill Prahlad. After Hiranyakashipu’s many plans to kill Prahlad failed, he finally took the help of his sister Holika.

Hiranyakashipu’s sister Holika had a boon that fire could never burn her. So Holika and Hiranyakashipu made a plan that Holika would sit in the burning fire with Prahlad on her lap, which would burn Prahlad to ashes. A wooden pyre was made according to his well thought out plan. When the pyre was set on fire, a miracle was proved in which Vishnu devotee Prahlad remained alive and Holika was burnt to ashes. Therefore, in the meantime, the festival of Holi is celebrated.

Even today, a day before Holi, Holika is prepared at different places and Holika is lit.
